Associate Mechanical Engineer

Our welcoming and diverse team is working on some of the most prestigious and innovative projects in Manchester, across the UK and around the world.From sustainability-focused offices and commercial premises to cutting-edge sports and leisure facilities such as the Manchester Velodrome, and from award-winning infrastructure and transport developments to major new residential communities, we are supporting schemes across a huge range of sectors.As an Associate you will be involved in multiple projects with a varied workload and the autonomy to work individually, but will also assist in planning and managing an appropriate resource to deliver projects. Reporting to Regional Director and/or Senior Associate, you will provide support in delivering projects effectively to strict deadlines, whilst maintaining technical performance standards.Although we’re happy to consider applicants with more or less experience, you’ll ideally have qualifications, experience or skills in the following areas:• To assist and deputise, when required, for the Regional Director in leading, managing and taking responsibility for the technical and commercial performance of your designated projects• To keep abreast of industry best practice and new developments in your own area of technical expertise• To develop and maintain an effective network of contacts and participate in industry events (seminars, conferences, etc)• To contribute to management of all technical and commercial aspects of commissions• To set and maintain technical standards• To review and approve work prepared by others• To comply with all safety and IMS procedures and ensure that staff do likewise• Degree qualified Chartered Engineer in a relevant discipline, or an Engineer with lower qualifications but a minimum 10 years relevant experience• Shall have a good commercial awareness and judgement• Have the drive and self-motivation to continuously develop your skills• Be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and to be able to build and develop relationships, both internally and externally.• Ability to apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating solutions• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail• Ability to lead and motivate staff by example• Be reliable and have a responsible attitude to workWhat’s on offer for you:• An opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team in a leading consultancy• Competitive salary and benefits package• Excellent future career opportunities• 26 days holiday per year, rising to 31 days with loyalty days, plus bank holidays• Hybrid working arrangements• Fantastic training and development culture• Access to mentoring support from industry experts• Opportunity to play a key role in exciting and varied projects• Opportunity to be client facing and the chance to get involved with business development and marketing activities
