More information can be found on the corporate website: PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Machining and Gears Technical Leader is responsible for the application of engineering principles through planning and development and purchase of machines, tools, methods, processes, and equipment to ensure maximum quality of the final product in the most effective, efficient, and economic way possible. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Support production plants to ensure quality of machined components by identifying, evaluating, and resolving production, process, and quality problems.Prepare and/or validate estimates for implementation of process improvements including labor, equipment, material and consumable cost, to reduce operating costs while maintaining quality levels. Analyze, plan, and validate layout of machining areas, equipment, resources, and production methods for maximum efficiency. Recommend improvements for efficiency and reduction of waste through reorganizing workflow, re-layout work stations and purchase of new equipment.Provide technical support and instruction for manufacturing personnel on new assembly and/or machining procedures. Lead or coordinate major equipment installation or modification projects. As required, responsible for project budget and timing. Work closely with Design Engineering on product design changes and/or new product development to include feasibility studies and technical evaluation in term of process impact and investments, with evaluation of tooling, fixtures, and workstations. Define equipment and machine tools technical specifications, work with Purchasing and suppliers starting from the process design phase to ensure alignment to technical and quality standards, by validating, during the codesign with the suppliers, the machine layout, mechanical components, features, cutting tools, cycle method and timing. Support functional try-outs of new equipment at supplier’s facilities, guaranteeing technical approval of the assets and performances before installation. Support installation, final trials, test and final approval of the machine in the production plant. Represent the Company in technical matters dealing with outside vendors and/or customers. Travel to observe new methods, trade shows or workshops, customer visits and repairs as required. CRITICAL COMPETENCIES Strong competence in machining processes (prismatic, gears and shafts) and demonstrated understanding of common manufacturing processes. Demonstrated proficiency with reading and understanding technical drawings, schematics and layouts. Demonstrated understanding of finance, capital appropriations, and budgeting practices and ability to perform manufacturing (including Make vs Buy) analysis and estimate cost of labor, equipment, material and assembly capabilities. Strong analytical ability to recognize need for modification of procedures or processes, identify root cause, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions where limited standardization or information exists.Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills, a continuous improvement mindset and an advocate for change Highly productive with a strong sense of urgency and orientation to details, accuracy, and excellent outcomes.Results-oriented with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and priorities and meet deliverables in a timely manner. Strong interpersonal skills which fosters teamwork and collaboration and develops high quality working relationships to influence, gain support, and achieve results, including strong cooperation with Plants, Product Engineering and Purchase. Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively deliver and transfer knowledge of technical concepts and respond to questions. Demonstrated safety orientation and compliance mindset. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle proprietary and sensitive information with integrity. Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with CAD and MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Willing and able to travel domestically and abroad to CNHI sites, vendor and/or customer visits, training events, trade shows, etc. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience 5+ years of experience in machining and gears environment with proven success in implementing process improvements. Required proven expertise in: Production cycle and process analysis and design for prismatic components, gears and shafts. Industrialization (from investment estimation, vendor selection, purchase to installation and try-out) of CNC machines, equipment and special purpose machines (turning, hobbing, grinding, honing and washing machines, hardening, etc.) PFMEA & Control Plan analysis Use of advanced quality tools and/or lean manufacturing concept Desired previous experiences: gear design (hobbing, skiving, and grinding); education or training in CNC Machining, robotics, and/or test equipment; electromechanical power transmission technology and applications.
