Protective is seeking a strategic and analytical Capital Planning Actuary or Associate Actuary to join our Capital Planning division. This high-impact role will lead the development, projection, and analysis of key capital metrics including the Economic Solvency Ratio (ESR), Japan Insurance Capital Standard (J-ICS), and Japan Aggregation Method (J-AM). As a key member of our Finance team, you’ll help drive clarity and direction for senior leadership and the board through insightful capital analysis and planning.
This position offers the opportunity to collaborate across multiple departments—Asset-Liability Management, Treasury, Accounting, Product Development, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and Financial Actuarial—and contribute to initiatives that enhance our capital efficiency and strategic decision-making.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead semi-annual calculation and analysis of ESR and J-ICS, providing insights into capital drivers.
- Partner with Accounting to support annual J-AM calculations and analysis.
- Maintain and enhance short- and long-term projections of ESR and J-ICS, helping leadership understand the impact of strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with Daiichi liaisons and the Daiichi NY team to refine ESR frameworks.
- Serve as a key contributor to the Capital Management Committee, presenting historical trends and future projections.
- Drive initiatives to improve capital efficiency across the organization.
- Manage and mentor a team of actuarial students, supporting their professional development.
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge Required:
- Deep understanding of life and annuity actuarial concepts.
- Familiarity with economic capital framework and international capital standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel and data management capabilities.
- Ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts in clear, actionable terms.
- Proven ability to collaborate across departments and lead through change.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related field.
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) , Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) required.
- 8+ years of experience in the life insurance industry .
- Experience with capital planning, financial modeling, or strategic finance is a plus.
Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $94,000 to $165,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees. This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.#LI-AP1
