Job Description:

Siemens Building\nTechnologies is growing! We are currently searching for an experienced Fire\nAlarm System Design Engineer to support our Fire System group located in Mt. Laurel, NJ. The Design Engineer is office-based and is responsible for the\ndesign of fire alarm systems using company tools and operating protocols.
\n\n Responsibilities:
• Receives project specifications from\nEngineering Supervisor, sales and service teams to design fire\nalarm systems using Siemens and/or other third party materials choosing\nthe appropriate mix of products and installation
\n methods.
\n• Prepares submittal packages, riser and floor plans and performs battery\ncalculations
\n• Acts as a technical resource to team and customer as needed.
\n• May participate in initial job site walk through with contractors and/or\nbuilding management.
\n• Analyzes plans, construction contract specifications and codes to determine\nproject requirements and risks and to provide the most cost effective\nsolution.
\n• Prepares engineering re-estimate and follows up with appropriate sales and\nmanagement to assure understanding of and satisfaction with job scope.
\n• Prepares all information on pre-installation extras or change orders to\nsubmit to customer or general/ subcontractor.
\n• Ensures the job folder is organized and maintained including all pertinent\njob related information.
\n• May perform some field activities as required.
\n\n Qualifications include:
\n• Bachelor's or Associates in an Engineering discipline preferred, although\ncandidates with a High School Diploma or GED equivalency along with directly-related\nfire alarm engineering experience will also be considered.
\n• 2-3 years engineering/systems or other related experience.
\n• Strong knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations\nrequired.
\n• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD required. Experience with Revit a\nplus
\n• Good verbal and written communication skills.
\n• Fully proficient and independent design skills.
\n• Able to design small jobs with deviation from standard tools, products or\npractices as needed.
