JOB DESCRIPTION 1. JOB IDENTIFICATION Job Title: Project Engineer (Precommissioning) Business Unit: Operations Department: RFO & Intervention Date Written: 10th December 2018 2. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Directly Reports to: Discipline Lead -RFO & Intervention Team Indirectly Reports to: Project Managers Directly Supervises: As directed by Discipline Lead 3. JOB PURPOSE (summary of outputs of the job)
  1. To deliver discipline support to the Project Management Teams.
4. KEY ACTIVITIES Provide support and technical guidance to Project Engineers for pipeline pre-commissioning. Typical day to day enquiries require technical responses to be communicated to project teams within the following key areas: Pre-commissioning
  • Provide support and guidance to Project Engineers regarding all aspects of pipeline pre-commissioning.
  • Project Engineering support including; post lay flooding, cleaning, gauge pigging, hydrostatic testing, dewatering / drying / nitrogen packing and methanol or glycol swabbing, umbilical testing
  • Pre-commissioning calculations support in all pre-commissioning activities
  • Awareness and familiarity of the industry standard and general specifications in relation to code compliance.
  • Conversant in the operational and safety considerations associated with pre-commissioning activities.
Provide offshore and onshore site focal point and project technical / co-ordination support for all related Pipeline Pre-commissioning activities.
PERSON SPECIFICATION 5. QUALIFICATIONS (professional, technical, academic) Essential:
  • HND / Degree within Engineering based discipline.


6. EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE Essential:
  • Field experience working with pre-commissioning plant / equipment, diesel pumps, cryogenic pumping equipment, air compressors, drying spreads.
  • Project Engineering experience developing and reviewing Pipeline Pre-commissioning procedures and specifications in office environment.
  • Proficient in pre-commissioning engineering calculations
  • Exposure/experience with deep water pre-commissioning Technologies will be an advantage, but not essential.
  • Enthusiasm to develop expertise across other discipline strands supported by the RFO and Intervention team
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • High level of knowledge of health and safety aspects and quality requirements associated with pre-commissioning operations
  • Computer skills word and excel, power point experience essential
  • Good presentation Skills required for internal and client technical presentations
7. TECHNICAL/GENERAL COMPETENCIES Essential:
  • In depth knowledge and field experience of pre-commissioning equipment. Experience writing and reviewing pre-commissioning procedures.
8. PERSONAL QUALITIES Required for position:
  • A good team player. Self-motivated with a drive for results and improvement.
  • The ability to work on own initiative and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to supervise / delegate work packages.
  • Supportive of change initiative.
