About You
  • You must have, or be predicted to gain, a 2:2 degree classification or above in the one of the following subjects: Mechanical, Electrical or Control & Instrumentation Engineering degree.
  • To apply for this role, you must hold a valid full UK car driving licence, or be willing to learn to drive and agree to secure a valid full UK car driving licence at least 3 months before the programmes start date.
  • This programme consists of rotational placements and therefore you must be willing to relocate as and when the programme requires.
About the Role
Do you come from a background of developing procedures, specifications, engineering and safety instructions/bulletins? Operating within or supervising a small or virtual team, you could be doing this along with enhancing performance for Gas Transmission.

Within the sphere of expertise, you will get the chance to provide capability in developing, evaluating the delivery of engineering and asset solutions for activities for a range of technologies and disciplines associated with UK transmission plant and equipment to meet legislative requirements and company objectives.

These activities are associated with a range of asset technologies and disciplines. This includes mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation, technical standards, pipelines AGIs, Gas Turbines and associated turbo machinery equipment including industrial control systems. It really sounds like you'll get to lead the implementation of business plans to improve the performance and reliability of gas transmission assets.

Key Tasks and Areas of Work
  • Provide input to the development of target and policy in area of expertise
  • Provide an excellent standard of service to Operations for the 'operational support' service level that Asset Management delivers
  • Achieve business objectives, plans and targets, condition, records and compliance with statutory requirements
  • Develop plans to ensure business objectives, targets and provide assurance for legal compliance is achieved.
  • Follow complex plans, providing input and uses technical expertise to adapt plans to achieve successful delivery
  • Review reports, technical data and information to inform asset management decisions. Act on outputs and instigates improvement programmes when identified
  • Provide advice across the business in area of expertise
  • Challenge as part of a team existing ways of working and develops solutions to deliver an increased performance in area of expertise. Uses outputs to inform and update company procedures
  • Support performance testing incident investigations, and detailed inspections to manage risk, while creating value for the business.
  • Provide support and guidance on asset integrity issues and how deviations or deferrals of current policies can be managed within sphere of expertise.
  • Liaise to external bodies on sphere of expertise


You will develop a strong background of how to engineer asset solutions for activities for a range of technologies that will play a part in supporting the safety or reliability of the gas transmission assets. This position will enable you to develop technical knowledge and understanding with supporting experience of business skills to support application for professional accreditation.
