Responsibilities:

Reports to the Director HSE Subsea USA/Canada/Central America and manages the implementation and administration of health, safety, environmental and occupational medical programs for the technical services and services project management organizations. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement of work processes for reducing HSE risks to assure a workplace where HSE is the focus in all we do. Interaction required with all levels of clients, management, supervisors, engineers, team leaders and hourly employees.

Main Tasks:

  • Manages the implementation and administration of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs for the technical services group and services project management teams.
  • Leads and partners with management when implementing new or updated HSE prevention and compliance programs while driving employee engagement in HSE.
  • Works closely with management on the implementation of HSE related capital projects.
  • Manages field activities to verify compliance, resolve situations, and maintain a cooperative working relationship.
  • Identifies and implements applicable HSE-related regulatory requirements.
  • Applies HSE policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations; ensures compliance with these areas.
  • Prepares documentation, information and communications as required.
  • Trains, monitors and coaches employees in order to improve skill level to ensure adherence to principles, policies and standards of HSE processes in a reliable and cost-effective manner.
  • Performs and completes various site HSE inspections and audits.
  • Partners with management on business, organizational, and HSE programs.
  • Investigates accidents and environmental incidents through root cause analysis and recommends policies, procedures, and/or other actions to correct problems or prevent future occurrence.
  • Advises and supports technical service and the services project management teams in HSE-related matters, including resolving and closing out corrective and preventive actions for continual improvement of HSE compliance and performance. Focuses on identifying hazards, assessing and controlling risks associated with Subsea activities.
  • Provides inputs into HSE performance reporting using both proactive (leading) and reactive (lagging) metrics.
  • Applies applicable best practices to identify and enable improvements to work processes, facilities, equipment and safe work practices.
  • Participates in corporate special emphasis programs and compliance HSE Management System Audits at domestic locations.
  • Assists with case management and/or following up on occupational injuries/illnesses.
  • Performs other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required (HSE Management or related degree)
  • At least ten years of HSE experience (preferably in a shop, offshore and/or engineering environment) including familiarity with general workshop and offshore hazards.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience.
  • Technical knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT Drug & Alcohol, SEMS, BSEE and other applicable regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding with the HSE programs such as: Incident Investigation and Reporting, Root Cause Analysis, Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Facilities and equipment (plant site) HSE Condition Audits, Industrial Hygiene monitoring and Risk Assessment (Hazard Identification [HAZID] or Hazard Operability [HAZOP] studies.
  • Proficient in applicable software applications including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Certifications Desired:
  • CSP Certification preferred.
