Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme, including Astute and Dreadnought class.

Your role in Babcock

Part of the Head of Engineering’s core team, you will be a key player in the Strategic Infrastructure Design Authority. The Safety Case Manager is accountable to the Design & Safety Manager for development and delivery of phased Nuclear Safety Cases to meet an agreed set of User, DA, Licensee and other business requirements.

  Key duties

  • Delivery of Facility Staged Nuclear Safety Cases
  • Contribute to development and implementation of Nuclear Safety Processes & Standards
  • Nuclear Safety Requirements Development & Management
  • Support ONR & EA interface
  • Work with other Safety Managers, Chief Engineer function and Site Safety Technical Authority
