Primary Job Functions:
Experience:
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical and chemical industrial applications
  • Three (3) years of First Solar or industry supervisory experience or combination of some equivalent years in First Solar or industry engineering or team lead experience.
  • Manage or participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Thorough understanding of all production processes and equipment

Education:
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Science preferred

Required Skills/Competencies:
  • Business fluency in English and Vietnamese, spoken and written is required
  • Ability to understand and coordinate scheduling of multiple manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of inventory processes and systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality systems
  • Coordinate and prioritize multiple projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Facilitate cross training between positions and production units
  • Basic project management
  • Effective communication and supervisory skills

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate, schedule and prioritize production related activities, personnel, projects, planning and other functions within assigned crew and with other crews and support departments
  • First line of defense for device IV/Efficiency and yield issues troubleshooting in shift. Review all key process input and output parameters, commonality study to trigger fast mixing test, and perform next level analysis to isolate the possible contributing process before escalate to engineering.
  • Manage crew specific projects as related to safety, quality and/or productivity
  • Will assume delegate responsibilities for Shift Manager as required
  • As required to fill-in for manufacturing supervisors, directly supervise daily production. Able to utilize Kronos and Workday where applicable
  • Lead, manage and participate in cross functional continuous improvement activities/teams. Support efforts to consistently exceed customer expectations
  • Responsible for controlling costs to maintain budget accuracy
  • Monitors and coordinates Work-in-Process (WIP) optimization between manufacturing units for each process. Maintains product inventory accuracy
  • Support all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards, including our 5S system
  • Effective use of internal manufacturing software for production tracking
  • Utilize Theory of Constraints (TOC) methodology to maximize throughout
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Specialist and other supervisors on day to day issues
  • Evaluate and monitor manufacturing processes ensuring cycle time is being met
  • Responsible for eliminating downtime constraints in assigned area (eg: find root cause and resolve the issue, leverage support teams to improve quality and productivity).
  • Train and mentor Supervisor I&II associates
  • Monitors and maintains training matrix in Workday. Identify training opportunities to develop and maintain a highly motivated and capable team
  • Monitor and maintain training guides and track training progress of team
  • Coordinate on-the-job training of manufacturing associates
  • Maintain all associate records in Workday. Maintain accurate time keeping for manufacturing associates in the Kronos system
  • Participate in performance appraisals
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Reporting Relationships:
  • No direct reports

Travel:
  • No regular travel is required outside the First Solar global work site.

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to perform normal physical movements (e.g. standing & sitting for a long period, lifting, carrying and climbing) according to EHS ergonomic guidelines.
  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will lift up to 23 kg on an occasional basis, according to Minister of Health guidelines
  • Will lift up to 17 kg on a frequent basis, according to Minister of Health guidelines
  • Will push or pull up to 13 kg of force on an occasional basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 5 kg of force on a frequent basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green is required.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
  • All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).

Office Physical Requirements:
All positions in our office require interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
