We currently have an opportunity within our Connectivity business in our Exeter office for you to work with a team of transport planners and modellers on a variety of transport planning, sustainable travel and other related projects.

You would support the development and management of sustainable travel projects and also support on wider transport planning and policy projects. Candidates should have good written and communication skills and be able to innovate and problem-solve and be passionate about the promotion of sustainable travel.

Occasional travel within the UK and/or overseas may be required.


The candidate should have a degree in a relevant subject, for example Geography. We will also expect:

  • Experience in the promotion of sustainable travel, and the development of active travel programmes of work.
  • Experience in transport planning projects, including the production of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Strategies
  • Experience of handling and analysing data.
  • Ability to work both as part of a sophisticated multi-disciplinary team as well as possessing the ability to work independently to solve problems.
  • Experience of project and client management covering programme, resources, finance and quality control.
  • Track record of successfully mentoring and developing junior colleagues and sharing technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrate collaborative behaviours and engaging style of delivery.
  • Degree qualified, you will have experience as a Transport Planner in undertaking transport studies and sustainable travel promotion with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects.
  • MSc in Transport or equivalent experience.
  • Wider experience of local transport planning work e.g. network management, Business Case development, transport modelling etc.
  • Experience in working with junction modelling software (e.g. Junctions8, TRANSYT, LINSIG etc).
  • Experience of statistical analysis / programming.
  • Have achieved, or be working towards Chartered Engineer or other relevant professional accreditation (Chartered Membership).
