The Role

The Test Technician is a member of the Vibration / Simulation Test Team which is part of the Reliability & Test Organization. He/she will support the development, implementation and application of Tesla internal test and validation plans and methods for various automotive systems and components.

The ideal candidate has a proven record of success in the setup and conduction/monitoring of component or system level tests in a vibration test environment. Interpersonal and communication skills are a requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla.

  • Build/assemble and setup test/validation equipment and fixtures
  • Modification of existing or fabrication of new equipment and fixtures as required
  • Install electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic circuitry and controls or data circuits
  • Installation and use of data acquisition equipment and other instrumentation
  • Setup and monitor/log internal simulation & vibration tests and validation activity
  • Record and analyze test data. Document and report on issues fund during test and work closely with Test Engineering to address these
  • Conduct component and system tear downs after test completion to discover issues generated during testing, document and report results
  • Maintain test/validation equipment

  • Associates Degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology from an accredited institution or demonstrable equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years experience working in an engineering development / test environment
  • Experience with ED shakers, and / or hydraulically controlled simulation test equipment such as MTS shaker tables / rigs
  • Experience and demonstrated success in Machining preferred
  • Experience with Electrical Circuitry and schematics
  • Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, and shop equipment
  • Ability to instrument test samples with thermal couples/accelerometers/strain gauges/pressure sensors/etc., and operate data acquisition systems for data collection
  • Understanding of Pneumatic and Hydraulic schematics preferred
  • Experience in the use of a broad variety of test, control and data acquisition equipment and software (i.e. Lab View, MatLab)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
