Tesla is seeking a highly motivated certification engineer to join the Homologation Team. The Homologation Engineer is responsible for supporting the certification and compliance of vehicles and equipment globally. Scope will include working closely with the product platforms and development to define requirements through understanding and interpreting regulation requirements and communicating in terms of functional requirements. The scope will include ensuring the functional groups are meeting requirements to support certification and compliance.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate for this position should
  • Oversee all range and Energy consumption related certifications for Tesla vehicle line.
  • Be the primary point of Contact for Tesla on all Fuel consumption related matters and interface directly with regulatory agencies globally.
  • Support the development, submission and review of engine and equipment certification applications with federal, state and local regulatory agencies to support product development and application production
  • Be able to interpret and apply regulatory requirements and/or nuances independently and advise vehicle engineering and test teams.
  • Address and co-ordinate configuration changes between cross functional teams (marketing, engineering, New Product introduction, vehicle test and MES)
  • Provide technical support to the Tesla CAFE credit team.
  • Track and document regulatory changes from federal, state and local agencies and review functional requirements that impact current and future product lines
  • Document and communicate to executive management the progress and open issues for current and future product certification and compliance

Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical preferred)
  • Functional knowledge of electric powertrain and propulsion system controls and diagnostics
  • excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in engine or equipment engineering or testing OR a Master's degree.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to function in a highly dynamic and demanding environment.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally - up to 15% of the time
