The Role

As a Component Validation Engineer, you will have the opportunity to accelerate the delivery of quality Tesla products to consumer markets. You will be responsible for designing and implementing methods for validation component firmware (high voltage systems / next generation power conversion systems). This team is extremely focused on the quality of Tesla products and is the driving force behind our high quality firmware. You will work within the development team to automate testing, implement new tests, and create innovative automated test systems. These systems explore and validate the performance capabilities of our hardware and firmware.

  • Assist in creating advanced automated test suites.
  • Work alongside the development team to create automated regression tests.
  • Assist in creating unit tests.
  • Understand and deconstruct complicated software systems and devise strategies to test these systems.
  • Create and execute test plans designed to expose weakness or faults in components.
  • Cohesively work with developers to optimize the acceleration of component validation with the use of metric driven data.

  • Expertise testing devices and preferably experience building an HiL tester (Hardware in the Loop - simulation).
  • BS, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability.
  • Prefer at least 2+ years of professional/relevant experience.
  • Ability to think creatively and produce "outside of the box" solutions.
  • Proficiency in C and C++.
  • Strong scripting skills in at least one common language (Python, Perl, Shell).
  • Familiarity with National Instrument Testing Software (LabView, TestStand, VeriStand).
  • Knowledge of source control (Git) and continuous integration (Jenkins).
