BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE/ANALYST, TESLA ENERGY, FREMONT, CA

Headquartered in Palo Alto, CA, Tesla develops high-performance, fully electric vehicles, solar energy generation systems and energy storage products, with the mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Electric cars are only as clean as the grids that charge them, and using the same powertrain technology, Tesla has developed a business unit to address the increasing need for Tesla Energy battery systems, which allow for even higher levels of renewable generation. The suite of grid-connected battery systems developed by Tesla perform a variety of high value functions for utilities, businesses, and residential customers, and the fast-growing team is adding top team members for engineering, business, and sales.

The Tesla Energy team is focused, committed, and fast moving. As a member of our team, you will help to shape the success of our projects with various customers worldwide. You must have a genuine passion for developing products that will fundamentally change the world's energy infrastructure and must want to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

The Business Development team focuses on new markets and new applications for Tesla Energy Products. The BD group collaborates with Sales, Product, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and other internal teams in order to bring offerings to market and help grow sales globally.

The candidate will work on market research and assessment of new opportunities for Tesla Energy.

Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:
  • Driving research and analysis on markets, applications, and economics for Tesla Energy products with a focus on utility projects
  • Creating models to project market size and growth expectations
  • Collecting and analyzing key inputs for techno-economic analysis
  • Building economic models to assess key project parameters (sizing, cash flows, NPV, LCOE, etc.)
  • Supporting specific utility-scale opportunities with commercial negotiations or transaction structuring.
  • Conducting outreach to potential partners, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and relevant background research on key parties
  • Cross-functional coordination with Sales, Product, Marketing, and Operations teams on key initiatives

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in energy markets and utility projects
  • Strong research skills, and ability to synthesize insights from diverse sources of information
  • Excellent organizational abilities
  • Strong Excel modeling skills
  • Degrees in a related field (e.g. Business, Statistics, Math, Economics, Public Policy)
  • Previous experience with energy storage strongly preferred
