The Role:

As the Trades Construction Manager for Structural and Architectural at Tesla you will be playing a critical role in building the world's largest factory. You will work primarily in the office supporting Structural and Architectural self-performed work and will be asked to work cross-functionally, interfacing with other trades, construction engineering, and manufacturing engineering while tracking a project's schedule and budget.

  • Manage a team of field, office and craft personnel to perform fast paced, high quality, design-build Structural and Architectural installations while controlling and clearly communicating cost and schedule.
  • Understand construction sequences, startup systems and review designs for constructability.
  • Troubleshoot, walk down, and resolve issues that arise in the field specifically in the Structural and Architectural fields but also with interfacing trades.
  • Quickly respond to queries and resolve any technical barriers to completion by working with the in-house design and engineering teams.
  • Work with engineering and estimators to create labor, equipment and material budgets.
  • Develop, communicate, and improve upon plans for logistics and other project plans.
  • Interface with engineering team, construction team, contracts, and commissioning team.
  • Perform take-offs, develop submittals, order materials and track performance to support the Structural and Architectural activities.
  • Develop templates and standards for future phases/projects.
  • Enforce and maintain high quality standards for engineering drawings and for field installations.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or Construction Management.
  • At least 12 years of experience on large commercial or industrial jobsites running structural and architectural scopes.
  • Understanding and proficiency in estimating, plan reading, and document control.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and manage changes to:
    • Architectural and Finish plans and specifications.
    • Framing and wall type details.
    • Finishes as well as door and hardware schedules.
    • All aspects of building framing and finishes.
    • Structural Steel and Reinforcing details.
    • Concrete and Structural Excavation.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Willingness to spend a high percentage of time in the field and to get hands dirty as needed to complete objectives or find the correct information.
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.
