Tesla is looking for a Technical Project Manager to join our Charging Infrastructure team. The Technical Project Manager will act as a key liaison with internal business program managers and product and technical engineering teams during the development and execution of key strategic Charging programs and projects. The Technical Project Manager will collaborate with the core Program/ Project team to manage high visibility and high value programs and projects and have the ability to apply program/project management skills to assure the timely and efficient execution of key projects. This position may also be responsible to manage and track a portfolio of projects (program).

This position requires strong technical project management capabilities, must be self-organized, should have effective communication and collaboration skills, and have the ability to provide insight around potential risks and opportunities, resolve conflict, initiate resolution and deliver results.

  • Drive, implement and help define project and feature requirements, workflows and plans including managing timelines, budgets, communications, quality, uncovering roadblocks, defining critical paths, identifying resource constraints, and any other issues that arise
  • Work with business leaders, engineers, developers and program managers to identify the success criteria of the project
  • Identify and document all project milestones and deliverables and keep project plans up to date at all times, including resource allocations, tracking hours, monitoring schedules, percentage completion, etc.
  • Negotiate priorities and workload with many internal customers and team members
  • Lead and develop project kickoffs, communications and scope definition
  • Create formal project communication plans key project metrics and dashboards for project status communication
  • Conduct project evaluations, post-mortems, and drive process change to incorporate learning
  • When necessary, write and publish technical process documentation related to projects

  • Bachelor's degree required MBA or Masters in Project Management preferred or equivalent experience
  • 3 to 5 years of project management experience in successful management of technical programs, and/or projects in a large operating environment
  • Knowledge of basic CSS, PHP HTML, SQL, and Javascript required
  • Previous experience with Jira and Confluence strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering complex projects that interact across several technical systems
  • Ability to deliver results through influence without authority
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful and able to manage shifting priorities
  • Passionate self-motivation requiring minimal oversight; proven ability to act in a leadership role
  • Evidence of exceptional ability
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
  • PMP/PMI Certification preferred but not required
