Product Manufacturing Introduction, Program Manager

The Role

The PMI Program Manager will be responsible for the introduction of new products/processes supporting all product lines at the Gigafactory in Reno, NV. This includes managing the project from early prototype builds through to the launch of the production line, and requires an exceptional capacity for cross-functional interaction and leadership.

The PMI Program Manager will manage a cross-functional team to develop program schedules, track their progress against these plans, and ensure new products are brought to market on time with exceptional quality, performance, and cost. Items critical to the success of the PMI Program Manager include:
  • Support Engineering prototype A and B build phases (operations support and coordination, manage validation trial requests, ramp planning)
  • Directly manage C and D build phases (core team leadership, program schedule, build plan, materials coordination, build execution, allocation management, issue tracking)
  • Knowing what and who your resources are and how to effectively utilize them
  • Understanding how decisions in one area impact other departments and operational goals
  • Meeting with smaller groups to make sure everyone is making progress against the plan and on specific actions
  • Ensuring resources are allocated where needed
  • Tracking details and managing actions to closure

  • Manage the cross-functional team to ensure successful launches of new products into the Gigafactory
  • Lead build core team meetings to coordinate all aspects of prototype builds, set build plans and evaluate constraints
  • Drive material readiness with supply chain and material planners
  • Provide direction to project engineers for priorities and trial requirements
  • Perform cost analyses to reduce product cost and manage inventory
  • Aid in the development and roll-out of NPI structure and processes
  • Coordinate with a process and quality engineers to support new product rollouts

  • B.S. in Engineering, M.S or MBA preferred but not required
  • Min. 4-5 yrs. Experience in the mix of engineering and Project Management fields
  • Experience in Production/Manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Can communicate with technical and non-technical team members effectively
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage large teams
  • Works well under pressure and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to adapt to changes quickly
