The Role:

The Tesla Body Repair team is seeking a highly technical individual to support Tesla Approved Body Shops with vehicle system diagnostic issues and technical body related questions. Candidate must have strong technical troubleshooting abilities, excellent communication skills and be willing to interface with a combination of both technical and non-technical departments, as well as directly with Tesla Approved Body Repair shops.

Candidates must have a strong background in automotive vehicle systems, vehicle repair processes and technologies, and high level customer service skills. Body shop experience is a plus. Candidates must be able to thrive in a high energy team environment managing multiple events at once.

  • Perform vehicle system diagnostics remotely by looking at data logged by the vehicle
  • Perform analysis and technical assistance on body repair structural questions
  • Ability to quickly triage technical questions to resolve in the quickest most efficient way
  • Act as a point of escalation for the 3 rd Party Auto Body Network when technical assistance is needed
  • Perform troubleshooting, remote diagnostics, and case review
  • Recognize trends and patterns in field failures, and provide feedback to Tesla internal teams
  • Clearly articulate next steps to the required internal/external teams for further diagnostics or required repairs
  • Track all interactions and findings in a CRM/Vehicle Support System

  • Internal candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with Toolbox, Garage, EOL, or other applicable experience related to vehicle system diagnostics.
  • Preferred 3-5 years as automotive diagnostic technician performing system diagnosis and repair. Must have a good understanding of automotive CAN and LIN systems.
  • Preferred candidate will have experience working in or with Body Shop Repair Centers
  • Skilled with common Microsoft software (Excel, MS Word, etc.)
  • Strong data interpretation skills with acute attention to detail
  • Establish and maintain a positive, cooperative working relationships with internal teams and external customers
  • Willingness to learn new and innovative automotive technologies
  • Must have critical thinking skills and be able to communicate complicated concepts
