The Role

Tesla is seeking a highly-motivated Income Tax Analyst to join its Global Tax Team. This individual will be responsible for supporting the US direct tax function, which involves a broad variety of partnership and corporate taxation.   • Authors partnership and corporate tax workpapers in support of federal and state taxable income.
  • Gathers information for reporting to external CPA firms.
  • Participates in the quarterly corporate and partnership income tax provision processes.
  • Manages quarterly federal and state estimated income tax payments.
  • Manages tax extensions and payments
  • Assist with ongoing tax audits.
  • Analyzes income tax projections, and provide estimates on the tax return amounts.
  • Manage calendar maintenance of due dates for tax filings and payments.
  • Authors responses of tax notices and issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborates in tax research planning and incentive projects.
  • Actively partners with cross functional groups within the company to understand the tax impact of business operations and ensure that tax needs are identified, considered and communicated.
  • Participate in tax process optimization, develop and implement procedural changes and/or processes to improve tax function.

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Tax and/or Finance.
  • CPA and/or MST strongly preferred.
  • 1-3 years of tax experience with Big 4 firm and/or in-house tax department.
  • Experience with partnership structures, income allocation provisions, capital account maintenance,and Schedule K-1 reporting..
  • Experience with fixed asset reports, MACRS depreciation rules.
  • Strong US domestic (federal and state) income tax and ASC 740 accounting for income tax knowledge and practical experience.
  • Previous interaction with external CPA firms required.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with teams across the globe.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, array formulas, etc.) are required.
  • Evidence of exceptional ability.
  • Must be a self-starter who handles multiple projects with competing priorities with minimum supervision.
  • Strong analytic and problem solving abilities, able to research complex tax matters.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with all levels of personnel across disciplines, business units and outside contracts.
  • Positive attitude, eager to learn and willing to take on challenges.
  • Ability to adapt in a constantly changing, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Experience in Alternative Energy and/or Automotive industry a plus.
