The Role

As a Standards engineer, you will own and manage design and engineering value engineering and standard design initiatives for commercial photovoltaic and energy storage projects in a fluid and fast-paced environment. The role requires a diverse skillset to work cross-functionally between many different teams, including but not limited to professional engineers of record, technical specialists, sales, survey, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
Responsibilities
  • Develop code compliant solar and solar+storage construction value engineering approaches of implementing turnkey commercial, industrial, and government projects. Typical system sizes range from 200kW up to 5+MW.
  • Analyze project constraints to optimize the design and engineering methodologies so that projects are being sold and built in the most efficient and cost effective possible. This includes tracking initiatives from their inception until after construction and commissioning is completed.
  • Use all necessary and relevant code to support and guide standards initiatives.
  • Create documentation and CAD based details as part of the deliverable to the affected co-joined teams, including but not limited to design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and sales.
  • Occasional in-depth review of internal and external plan sets for code compliance and value engineering approaches.

Requirements.
  • B.S. or M.S. in an Engineering Discipline
  • 3+ Years in a design capacity role for PV, Energy Storage, or Microgrid projects.
  • A professional engineering license, either electrical or structural, is a preferred.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment, communicate succinctly and clearly to all levels of the organization, and maintain effectiveness while working autonomously or collaboratively.
  • In-depth understand of the NEC, IBC, IEE and UL standards and codes.
  • Strong software skills including ACAD, Microsoft Office, and PVSyst.
  • Excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills is required
  • Ability to quickly read and understand construction plans and schematics
  • Thorough understanding of current engineering means and methods, and working knowledge of common construction materials and technics.
