The Role

The successful candidate will have experience in many facets of installs and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems for factory automation. Maintenance leadership experience in supporting a production line, as well as new model and/or new equipment introductions is desired. The candidate needs to be well-versed in various maintenance craft skills, troubleshooting, breakdown management, PM development and implementation, and spare parts management.

A qualified candidate will be able to perform a wide variety of maintenance work on various press equipment including mechanical systems, electrical systems and controls, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, automation including PLC, networking systems and robotics.

  • Lead and conduct the installation, maintenance and repair of factory automation robotics and electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment
  • Provide troubleshooting of electrical systems in plant manufacturing equipment
  • Provide effective direction, coaching, and OJT to fellow employees on shift to boost their skill sets, and help production achieve their goals.
  • Lead and manage recoveries from breakdowns, and escalate issues appropriately while maintaining downtime reports for major breakdowns.
  • Plan and organize between shift and weekend work, including verification, for smooth operations.
  • Assist the Supervisor in developing PMs and procedures for maintaining all of the equipment in the shop.
  • Provide shift- to-shift communication in order to keep all associates informed, compliance with safety regulations and working toward the same goals.
  • Work with engineers and fellow technicians to resolve technical problems.
  • Maintain departmental records, spare parts inventory. Identify and order needed parts while maintain tracking system.

  • High school diploma with 10 years' experience or technical school with five years' experience in one or more of the skilled trades, or 2 years of college in a related field.
  • Completion of a maintenance apprenticeship or equivalent OJT experience
  • 5+ years of extensive experience with trouble-shooting and correcting industrial equipment breakdowns and failures.
  • Working experience of electrical drive systems including but not limited to VFD and servo drives.
  • Familiarity with PLC control systems (multiple platforms including Rockwell and Siemens) and relay control logic.
  • Knowledge of multiple robotic systems for programming, teaching, control system repairs (Kuka, Fanuc, Kawasaki, Motoman, ABB)
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems (control systems, hydraulic power systems and lubrication systems)
