The Finance Operations team focuses on constantly improving the way things are done in the finance organization. A good fit in this role will require someone who is looking to jump into new areas and become an expert in whatever is necessary for the success of the organization.

This individual will need to be organized and strategic in order to handle multiple projects and responsibilities at once. They must work across multiple business units within Tesla and serve as a link to bridge any gaps in end to end business processes. From time to time there may be interaction at the executive level, requiring effective and clear communication.

Tesla is a fast moving environment with many sharp minds, it is important that this individual be able to effectively manage projects and lead groups outside of finance to successful resolutions.


  • Produce detailed reporting, analytics and metrics that drive decision making and process change
  • Make suggested process enhancement to the leadership team based on data insights
  • Work with Shared Services teams to redesign processes and improve data quality (AP, AR, Billing, Collections and Payroll)
  • Become a subject matter expert on the existing finance and operations systems in order to guide the various teams on best use of their resources
  • Work with cross-functionally with teams to problem solve with available tools
  • Automate processes using new technologies


  • Undergraduate degree (Finance or Accouting) preferred or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of exceptional ability
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with track record of delivering results
  • Advanced query writing skills in a SQL language (MS SQL or MySQL)
  • Effectively traverse unknown datasets to find the required information
  • Ability to aggregate and work within enormous data sets
  • Advanced Excel user, including PowerQuery, Pivots and the development of VBA,
  • Well-developed presentation skills, including the ability to produce high quality material and speak to it
  • Ability to create data visualization and dashboards in Tableau, Microsoft BI, or other applications
  • Show competency in learning new software both out of the box, and home build
  • Be able to communicate effectively (both written and orally) to technical and operational team members
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Be able to resolve issues quickly and precisely to completion and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of technical architectures, data integration, and software development lifecycle a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and navigate through an ambiguous work environment
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, work independently, be a self-starter
  • Previous Experience: FP&A or Operational Analytics is a plus
  • Additional Certifications a Plus: CPA/CA, Lean, Six Sigma
