Tesla's Design Automation Software Engineering team builds the tools that enable our engineering team to deliver Tesla's unique, high-quality energy products to our customers. Installing Tesla energy products, such as Solar Roof and Powerwall, requires a detailed engineering design. Teams that rely on the Design Automation system are highly technical, and are doing the work that turns an order into reality for the customer -therefore requiring speed, flexibility, and accuracy to give the customer the best possible energy solution for their home. The Design Automation Software Engineering team accelerates the world's transition to sustainable energy by providing state-of-the-art automation that seamlessly integrates the latest technologies in remote sensing, predictive modeling ofenergy usage and productionsimulations, and energy hardware into a software tool that e nables rapid, accurate designs. We are looking for a highly motivated engineer that can help ustake this technology to the next level and ensureTesla remains the best sustainabilitycompany in the world.


  • Help design, engineer , scope, and architect creative software solutions to engineering problems using Microsoft .NET technologies, including Windows Forms, WPF, Web API, .NET Core, and SQL Server
  • Take full ownership of projects , from requirements gathering to monitoring of the feature in production

  • Collaborate with all members of the software engineering team, as well as with support, product management, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality software that meets or exceeds expectations
  • Provide novel solutions, derived from first principles, both to engineering problems as well as internal processes
  • Suggest improvements to code structure, architecture, and process that will improve daily work and make you and your teammates more efficient
  • Implement major and minor feature s and fix bugs

Must haves:

  • 7-10 years of software development experience in an object-oriented language, with at least5 years experience using .NET technologies such as ASP.NET, WinForms, WPF, ASP.NET MVC, and UWP
  • Fluent knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and coding practices aimed at maintainability
  • Experience designing, building, and architecting web API applications
  • Experience scoping, assessing, and implementing architecture changes
  • Experience working with legacy systems

  • Willingness to do whatever is necessary to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy

Nice to haves:

  • Experience developing desktop applications using .NET technologies such as WinForms, WPF, and UWP
  • Experience working with, or developing plugins for, a 3-D CAD system such as AutoCAD or CATIA
  • Experience building software with highly technical users, such as engineers or scientists
  • Experience with 3-D graphics systems, such as Unity or other game development systems
  • Familiarity with the design of electrical,mechanical, or structural systems
  • Familiarity with residential wood-framed construction and/or residential and commercial electrical systems
