Primary Job Functions:
Experience:
  • 6 years of relevant manufacturing experience with 2 years in a leadership, project management, engineering, or supply chain exempt role or,
  • 2 years of First Solar manufacturing leadership, project management, engineering, or supply chain experience (exempt only) and 4 years relevant manufacturing experience

Education:
  • 2-year Degree in Purchasing, Management, Operations, Business or Related Field, or
  • 7-years in material or production planning in a manufacturing environment.

Required Skills/Competencies:
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Demonstrated experience with supply chain planning software. Rapid Response experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with asset management software. Maximo experience a plus.
  • Problem solving (Six-Sigma Green Belt Preferred)
  • Prior experience with statistical analytic software (JMP, SAS) a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills (email, group presentations, conference call and meeting leadership)
  • Proven organizational and personal development skills
  • Ability to write basic scripts in Microsoft Access and SQL preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs with emphasis on MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Business Fluency in English, both spoken and written

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Manage all non-standard plant manufacturing activities -
    • Manage all requests relative to planned downtime or changes outside the stated supply and/or capacity plan. This includes but not limited to: downtime, engineering tests, process changes, special label requests, and any other changes that could impact the supply.
    • Analyze impact to finished goods supply plan, work in process material, or other factors due to change.
    • Work with Global Manufacturing Control leaders to gain approval of any downtime request that would impact a supply factor (i.e. quantity, bin, yield, etc).
    • Ensure clear communication to site manufacturing teams of the activity schedule, ensure the approved change is recorded in the appropriate system (Maximo, MIS change, etc) and resources are aligned.(Maintenance, Operations, etc.)
  • Subject matter expert for Constraint and WIP Management
    • Provide line management support to operations and engineering to ensure day-to-day max output and accuracy to global supply plan.
    • Lead cross-functional front line throughput operations review meeting.
    • Forecast WIP usage against planned downtime and normal operations.
    • Lead Kaizen activities to improve throughput and cost
  • Analyze Supply Plan
    • Validate the monthly supply plan against planned downtime and any other forecasted variables that could impact future output.
    • Review findings with Global Manufacturing Control leaders
  • Act as local representative or project lead for any product requested changes approved in the supply plan.
  • Validate the capacity model as needed. Perform Cycle Time studies to validate.

Reporting Relationships:
  • No intended direct reports
  • Reports directly to MFG Control Manager

Travel:
  • Domestic and/or international travel up to 10% of time

Physical Requirements:
  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to entire duration of a shift
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis
  • Will exert up to 23Kg of force to lift, push or pull on a seldom basis
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 13Kg on a frequent basis
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
  • All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair)
