Our Energy, Chemicals and Resources team has global expertise to develop, build and maintain complex facilities across the chemicals, upstream/midstream oil & gas, refining, mining & minerals and renewable energy sectors.

The Lead Piping Engineer is assigned to a project as an integral member of the project design team, and is responsible for the technical and commercial execution of the design and requisitioning in accordance with the control estimate and specific requirements of the project schedule. Also responsible for ensuring that the Project's Execution documentation requirements are followed, taking into account any special contractual requirements.

• Activities must ensure that all inter-disciplinary requirements are implemented and maintained at all times. Management of change processes with both man-hours and capital cost related to the discipline.

• To advise the Department Manager of required personnel necessary to maintain the project plan for assigned project. This to be agreed with the Project Manager and Planning Engineer.

• To regularly monitor the project plan and progress measurement reports and inform the Project Manager and Department Manager of any unacceptable trends.

• To update manhour and progress measurement reports, in time to support monthly reports for Clients.

• Weekly reports and schedule updates, progress reporting mid-month and end of month. Including deliverable KPI's and weighted progress.

• To ensure any change of scope is highlighted and a variation note is completed in accordance with Company SOPs identifying the impact on the project plan, manhour budget and capital cost.

• To ensure that the client interface is given high priority. To address client queries and concerns as necessary.

• To ensure all client documentation is reviewed for acceptability and updated as agreed with the client and Project Manager.

• To refer all client requests for variations to the Project Manager.

• To attend all necessary progress meetings and ensure Project and Department Manager are fully aware of any problems affecting the productivity of the team.

• To maintain a pro-active, positive approach to project team communication, particularly in subcontracts, procurement and design review activities.

• To ensure timely completion of all project specifications, designs, drawings and requisitioning. Attend 3D Model reviews

• To ensure all documentation within the scope of responsibility is checked, reviewed and approved in accordance with the Company SOP requirements for that project.

• To ensure all vendor bids and documentation are reviewed for technical acceptability.

• To give any necessary technical assistance to other members of the design team.

• To ensure a level of supervision is maintained that encourages empowerment and provides a flexible, responsive approach to the design, procurement and construction of the plant.

• Must be able to work in a multi-Discipline team and engage in collaborative behaviour that ensures the success of all Disciplines and the Project as a whole.


• Plant Layout, Piping Design and Piping Engineering experience within an
EPC/EPCm environment.

• Commercial awareness within professional services environment.

• Knowledge of UK, European and ASME/ASTM international standards and practices.

• Experience in a Lead position on Petrochem and/or Pharmaceutical EPC/EPCm projects.
