Built Environment (BE) operations are delivered through three European locations, UK, Spain and Netherlands. UK operations is further divided in to two regions, North and South in order to provide the correct level of oversight and direction appropriate to the scale of business. Delivery capability in each of the UK regions is structured around a primary design studio (London and Manchester) and supported by specialist's studio's, regional offices and Project offices.

Built Environment would like to recruit a H&S Advisor to support the existing Built Environment Head of Safety.

Responsibilities:

The post-holder will responsible to the Built Environment Head of Safety providing pro-active assistance in H&S management and assurance including:

• Undertake project specific audits, safety tours and assessments as required and agreed with project managers, at both sites and offices
• Review of safety documents including RAMS and HSE Plans
• Have good links with the wider business
• Be creative in helping to develop H&S materials etc
• Assess H&S data and support weekly and monthly reporting
• Be enthusiastic and able to deliver quality outputs independently
• Assist project teams as necessary to ensure that all projects are safety driven and all environmental impacts are assessed
• Assist with site, laboratory and office visits, safety tours and Safety Evaluations
• Promote best practice in all elements of HSE
• Assist in the development of the Jacobs Safety Management System to ensure compliance with all aspects of health, safety and environmental legislation
• Assist with the management and checking of bid submissions
• Provide in-house training in Jacobs processes and procedures to employees as required
• CDM experience highly preferred but not mandatory

Technical/Qualifications:

The post is for someone who would like to further their career in Health and Safety. A recognised safety qualification is essential, NVQ level 5 or 6 or equivalent is preferred.

Experience in report writing and an excellent standard of written communication is desired. The successful candidate must be well organised, have excellent time management skills and meet deadlines.

The candidate will need to demonstrate:
• a willingness to learn and apply that knowledge,
• the ability to engage and influence other members of staff,
• the ability to work as part of a team,
• a desire to progress their career,
• good IT skills including Word, Powerpoint and Excel/spreadsheet programme skills,
• a willingness to travel on business

The purpose of the role is to provide support and HSE advice, guidance and assurance to various Built Environment teams within UK Infrastructure in support of our 'BeyondZero' culture of caring.
