Dorenell Ranger

Location: Dorenell Wind Farm (MORAY AB55 4DT)

Salary: TBC

Closing date:  24th August

Vacancy Overview 

We are currently recruiting for a Dorenell Ranger.  

As the Ranger you will be required to monitor wildlife and implement the Habitat Management Plan and you will be based at the Dorenell Wind Farm & Visitor Centre. 

Nature and Scope 

  • Liaison with key consultees such as SNH, RSPB, Moray Council etc., regarding the implementation of the HMP; including the setting up and managing of the annual working group
  • Liaison and agreement with Glenfiddich Estate of all matters of interaction regarding the HMP; including access, agreeing and assessing maintenance proposals and any changes to the approved HMP
  • Liaison and supervision of the Golden Eagle tagging and tracking project with SNH and other relevant bodies
  • Managing and carrying out of any ongoing monitoring arrangements required under the HMP, or where necessary contracting and managing consultants
  • Preparation and collation of annual monitoring reports to demonstrate compliance with the HMP
  • Co-ordination and presentation of wildlife and HMP related matters including talks, guided walks for visitors to the Glenfiddich Estate and the wider local community
  • Provision of basic snow clearing service (equipment provided) during winter months
  • In conjunction with the Warden take responsibility for visitor centre management when required
  • Additional duties may include assistance with general site tidiness, contractor induction and setting to work 

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience 

Skills:  Must have or ideally have:

  • Clean Full UK Driving Licence
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain a licence for tractor and trailer
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain licences for small pieces of plant

Experience:  Must have or ideally have:

  • Must live locally to Dorenell Wind Farm
  • Must be comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders – SNH, RSPB, Landowners, Councils, Asset Owners etc. as well as members of the public
