As Project Controls Manager your mission is to lead the Project Controls team in HVDC's delivery of EPC-projects (Engineering, Procurement and Construction). The main task is to lead the planning, scheduling and cost control efforts for all project phases, to maintain and analyze actual and forecasted schedules, cost and risk and to monitor, report and manage deviations.

Your main responsibilities will be:
• To timely provide the Project Director, and the Manager Earned Value Management & Analysis, with look ahead, reliable and comprehensive information about the project status: budget, schedule, progress, planned, actual, forecast, resources and productivity, trends, and risks.
• To assist pro-actively the Project Director in the identification of risks, preventive measures or corrective actions, as much as required to improve the project status and mitigate the risks.
• To ensure that "Project Controls" is a permanent motivation for each member of the PMT and cascaded down through the whole project execution team.

More specifically:
• At the project launching stage, then on an ongoing basis, the Project PCM has a leading role for the preparation of the Project Procedures (in coordination with the Engineering, Manager, the Supply Chain Manager, the Construction Manager, the Commissioning Manager, the Contract Manager, and the Project Business Controller), and for setting up of the main control systems and tools for Cost, Progress and Schedule.
• Be a major contributor to the development of the Project Baseline (scope of work, cost and schedule) and of the Project Execution Plan.
• Review and validate the project master schedules (level 1, 2 and 3 schedules).
• Review and validate the detailed development of the approved project budget.
• Submit the master schedules and the detailed budget to the approval of the Project Director, then ensure their communication to the relevant project stakeholders.
• Manage on an ongoing basis the integration of the project cost control, schedule and progress management systems order to ensure they remain aligned and consistent together.
• Be the keeper of the project risk management process, and maintaining the risk register.
• Review and validate the documents prepared by his team or others:
- Engineering deliverables list
- Material requisition list and procurement status
- Progress monitoring structures: WBS
- Master schedules
- Cost control breakdown structure: CBS (in line with Finance in SAP structure)
• Monitor the staffing plans and man-hour status.
• Monitor the material quantities status.
• Analyze the actual and forecast statuses for cost, progress and schedule.
• Assist the Project Business Controller with cash-flow in/out forecast.
• Drive the technical and cost input to support the preparation of Change Orders and/or Claims.
• Assist the Project Director in the preparation of the Monthly Project Dashboard (internal) and Project Reports to the Client.
• Support the Project Director in project reviews with the Client and with ABB Management.
• Manage his team in close cooperation with the corresponding Department Heads.
• Ensure timely production of the project close-out and feedback reports at the end of the project.

We are looking for candidates currently operating at a senior level on major projects, or in a lead project controls role in a large EPC company. To succeed in this role, you need thorough understanding of logical sequencing and interfacing of project execution activities in EPC projects and ability to review complex multi-location EPC projects, and to identify and communicate risks and mitigation strategies to the project team.

You hold an Engineering degree, while additional MBA is a plus. You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimating or cost control on lump sum projects: emphasis is put on the applicant's skills in cost estimating and control systems, minimum of 3 years of experience in scheduling, or in project management or site construction activities including responsibilities to plan activities and to monitor execution schedules and physical progress. Ability to develop and to defend objective and unbiased analyses and strong ability to influence people, building trust and credibility, is equally important.

Furthermore, you are a team player, with leadership skills, business mindset and flexibility, tact and diplomacy and excellent communicator, with ability to highlight key issues and to communicate them to management and customers
