About the role
BHP Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland as part of our Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) business. Reporting to the General Manager, the Manager Mobile Maintenance is an exciting opportunity for a high performing professional to be a key decision maker and have strong influence across the maintenance function on site.
Utilising your well developed leadership skills you will guide and support the Mobile Maintenance function ensuring teams are set up for success and maintenance challenges are dealt with proactively, ensuring stable performance and facilitating a seamless safe delivery.
Other Key Accountabilities will include,
- Demonstrate leadership and instil an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
- Accountability for ensuring the planned performance and integrity of the Mobile Mining Equipment (Trucks, Loaders, Dozers, Graders, Water Carts and other ancillary mobile equipment) all at the lowest practical cost
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies
Working in a proactive business culture with a supportive management structure, and leveraging off your extensive experience, you will have the chance to promote business excellence through your team and you'll make full use of your broad range of skills in the areas of continuous improvement, technical knowledge, financial acumen and communication.
To be successful in this role you will have a Tertiary qualification in Engineering and bring a detailed knowledge of theories and practices related to heavy duty Mobile Maintenance. You will be a seasoned professional with a passion for guiding, developing and influencing teams and individual team members through mentoring and coaching.
With exposure to asset management principles, notably overall equipment effectiveness and a strong understanding of maintenance system processes, you will be confident in working through change management in a complex environment.

A Minimum of C class manual drivers licence is a requirement for this role.

You will be based at our 'Mining Area C' mine site on a fly-in fly-out on a 5/2-4/3-9/5 roster. Mining Area C is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis and TV. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
