Field Service Technician (Solar O&M). Location: Bedford. Salary: up to £30,000 (rising to £35,000, after 2 months training/ gaining AP3) + Benefits! 

Green Recruitment Solutions are seeking to appoint a talented and professional High Voltage & Solar PV specialist Senior Field Service Technician, for this global player in the Solar PV space, to assist with their O&M provision within West Midlands. As a Senior FST you will ideally be a qualified and experienced electrician. You would work as a solo worker and take specific responsibility for the performance of all allocated sites; on an autonomous basis. You will also be relied upon for most planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and corrective maintenance (CM) services; as necessary for the effective running of the sites within your individual responsibility.


  • Be involved in both HSE and risk assessment process; adhering to it at all times
  • Provide with additional construction support to the plants (as required)
  • Perform all corrective maintenance on assigned sites (as required)
  • Perform scheduled monitoring and regular maintenance checks on all cabling and junction boxes (e.g. insulation checks, cable replacement, thermal camera efficiency review)
  • Perform scheduled checks and maintenance actions on framing (e.g. bolt tightening)
  • Perform scheduled checks and maintenance actions on electrical components (e.g. inverters)
  • Assist with completion of the insurance and warranty claims (as required)
  • Manage relationships local subcontractors and other members of staff on and off site; if a need arises
  • Provide regular reports on undertaken and completed tasks; keeping organisations records of such works

Essential Requirements: 

  • City and Guilds 2382 (17th Edition) & 2392 or 95 
  • PV installation experience (especially ground mounted ideally)
  • ‘High Voltage Switching’ experience is essential
  • Proven experience of working at height is an advantage
  • Able to work remotely and autonomously, with limited, if any, supervision
  • Health and Safety awareness (ideally qualifications to provide evidence of this IOSH, NEBOSH etc.)
  • Attention to detail, ability to get things done quickly but efficiently and to a professional standard
  • Responsible and disciplined; able to work comfortably, and effectively within an autonomous environment
  • Strong technical understanding and ability to explain processes related to electrical engineering
  • Ambassador for the brand
  • Demonstrating real enthusiasm for interactions with customers’
  • 'Can-do' attitude and a willingness to engage in new directions, adaptable and flexible
  • Clean Driving Licence
