Amec Foster Wheeler is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Superintendent for its Takreer refinery project based in Ruwais site, United Arab Emirates.

The Mechanical Superintendent should act as the PMC focal point for Mechanical installation and pre-commissioning for the PMC at the BeAAT Project Site.

The objective and aim for this role is Installation and pre commissioning of all Unit steelwork, piping, and equipment is in accordance with the project schedule and executed in a safe controlled manner and that the Contractor is in compliance to the contractual Agreement.
  • To ensure safe working practices are applied by Contractor with respect to all site works regardless of discipline and intervene where necessary to avoid accidents and incidents
  • To contribute to site safety walks / observations and champion safety as part of the PMC team
  • To review progress and plans of the Contractor and critique the schedule and agree recovery plans and actions necessary to keep the project on schedule with regard to the mechanical function
  • To coordinate mechanical technical variation requests ensuring that project procedures and approvals are correctly applied
  • To review Contractor Method Statements and Permit to Work Requests especially those concerning Simultaneous Operations to ensure safe and efficient work processes are applied by Contractor
  • To ensure quality inspections are being correctly implemented by both Contractor and Company TPI, and that all observations are closed timely or NCRs are issued where applicable
  • To manage and coordinate quality meetings for Mechanical discipline as necessary
  • To be familiar with the management of packaged equipment installation, reviewing erection sequences and ensuring that installation and testing is completed in accordance with Manufacturer requirements by Contractor
  • To oversee the Contractor management of pre-commissioning activities of package units and piping installations, being able to work with other disciplines to ensure safe controlled conditions prevail and that adequate risk reviews and procedures are in place by contractor prior to work commencing
  • To manage the Contractor Mechanical discipline handover requests of Units, Spares, specialist tools and operational Equipment ensuring all Agreement handover procedures are adhered to by Contractor

Skills / Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent, (rotating / static equipment bias as opposed to piping)
  • Minimum of 15 years' with at least 8 years' in field for major oil / gas projects in similar position
  • Middle East experience required
