In this role, the Biochemical Engineer Analytical Instruments will develop and support novel bio detection / measurement platforms for the pharmaceutical and water processing industries.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Biochemical Engineer Analytical Instruments, you will use domain expertise while working with cross-functional teams across multiple geographic locations on product development and support around novel bio detection / measurement platforms for the pharmaceutical and water processing industries.
As the BioChemical Engineer Analytical Instruments, you will:

  • Design or conduct follow-up experimentation, based on generated data, to meet established process objectives
  • Prepare technical reports, data summary documents, or research articles for scientific publication, regulatory submissions, or patent application
  • Mentor and lead team members on best-practices for product development in biochemical engineering
  • Prepare reports of work completed so any proposed changes would be documented, and follow standard six-sigma and design processes
  • May also be used as an internal resource by Manufacturing / QC when difficult problems arise in production
  • Provide internal technical resources for aftermarket to support customer applications and problem resolution


  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in microbiology and/or biochemistry

  • Deep domain expertise with:
  • Bacterial endotoxin testing of water, in process samples, raw materials and final product
  • Endotoxin and LAL purification, formulation, and optimization
  • Endotoxin interaction with different chemical/molecular moieties
  • Protein chemistry and enzyme chemistry
  • Absorbance theory and photometry, specifically photometric measurement of enzymatic reaction kinetics
  • Rapid microbial methodologies
  • Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and hemodialysis industries
  • Familiar with global pharmacopoeial, national and international regulations
  • Hands on analytical laboratory skills
  • Self-motivated and well organized
  • Detail-oriented, accurate in work and record keeping, and responsible for recording details of test procedures and results
  • Proven sound judgment, values driven, and continuous innovation and improvement, and adaptability skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals
  • Strong computer and Outlook / Microsoft software suite skills
  • Demonstrated customer focus, project achievement / management, and cross-functional collaboration / teamwork skills
  • Productive, meeting aggressive timelines with high-quality work
  • Research and development background in bacterial endotoxin testing and direct experience with endotoxin and LAL reagent formulation and optimization and rapid microbial method development
  • Ability to explain complex issues in simple terms and provide clear technical direction
