Job Overview:

Production designer producing architectural sketches, drawings and model development.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Prepares architectural sketches, drawings and model development
  • Work conforms to applicable codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures
  • Research and determine the appropriate materials and products to the project
  • Generate material specifications and scope of work documents
  • Perform technical bid analysis reports of bidder proposals
  • Attend and present at pre-bid and post-award meetings
  • Perform technical review of vendor and manufacturer's submittals to ensure conformity to project
  • Review and respond to field generated RFIs
  • Interface and coordinate with all other engineering disciplines
  • Interface with non-engineering teams including construction, subcontracts, QA, etc.
  • Support CSA engineers in development of design solutions
  • Able to improvise, prioritize and organize under demanding schedules
  • May provide technical oversight to more junior designers
Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have recent Microstation CAD software experience and a high competency level ; AutoCAD experience is a plus
  • Experience with 3D Frameworks modeling and\or other modeling software
  • Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Document archiving and storage software (iDocs, Documentum)
  • A minimum of 5 - 10 years of experience with industrial architectural design projects
  • History of researching, interpreting and design application of codes and standards including IBC, OSHA, ADA, NFPA, etc.
  • Some experience with structural steel design, familiar with AISC codes and ability to understand shop drawings. Structural steel detailing experience is a plus.
  • College or technical school degree in design/drafting (2D/3D) and relevant experience in architecture
  • Supplemental civil structural steel and concrete is a plus
