In this role, the Material Handler will be responsible for managing outgoing shipments (domestic & international) using SAP, Microsoft Office, forklift and high bay to meet supplier & customer needs while remaining in compliance.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Material Handler, you will:
  • Prepare export documentation (SLI, SED, CI, and NAFTA), bill of lading, and specific regional documents; keeps records of all outgoing shipments including all documentation
  • Process ETD orders (UPS / FedEx) Export Orders- Electronic Trade Document Filing
  • Manage equipment and IT ticket filing (shipping systems maintenance UPS World Wide & FedEx Ship Manager)
  • Data tracking / reporting; order tracking, documentation filing, reporting on shipment volume
  • Order consolidation; customer required order consolidations (multiple plants)
  • Manage and schedules / completes online booking for ocean container (LTL, TL, LCL, CL) Less than Truck load, Truck load, Less than Container, and Container management
  • Process fright quotes
  • Perform high bay & forklift operation for loading and unloading
  • Use extensively SAP and Microsoft Office
  • Visually inspects goods to be shipped for damage, proper packaging requirements and material accuracy
  • Interact with customers, forwarders, sales reps, and customer service to ensure satisfaction during shipping process
  • Perform freight claim resolution process and reconciliation
  • Update customer information for invoice processing
  • Troubleshoot when products are missing or damaged and determines solution
  • Take inventory as required
  • Observe all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including housekeeping practices and participation in EHS meetings, investigations, and audits
  • Perform tasks in accordance with quality, DOT and hazardous waste requirements when loading and unloading trucks, understanding emergency response procedures in the event of a spill
  • Be required to be available for emergency call-in, depending on department
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Material Handler - Lead


  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working as Material Handler, Shipping Clerk or Receiving Clerk
  • Ability and willingness to work 2nd shift hours (10 hour shifts, Monday - Thursday)
  • Ability and willingness to be available for emergency call-in, depending on department

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with SAP
  • Trained in fork truck and high bay operations
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the movement or control of inventory
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in manufacturing environment
