Role synopsis
  • Deliver Finance Group and Statutory Reporting support to the business(es) and countries assigned to the role.
  • Support of timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes in accordance with the Group Reporting Manual and any other relevant standards and provide support for any other relevant reporting requirements such as Balance Sheet Integrity, Intercompany Practice, group/external audit, segment reporting.
  • The Financial Accountant shall deliver finance and accounting support to the business(es) and legal entities assigned to the role
  • The Financial Accountant will work on businesses and processes with a relatively high degree of complexity. They will be required to work closely with the Business / Country teams supported to ensure effective delivery.
  • The Financial Accountant will work closely with Business / Country teams supported to ensure effective delivery, to resolve issues and put in place process improvements.
  • Provide back up support based on back up matrix.

Key accountabilities
  • Adhering with the tasks outlined in the QMS Systems of GBS Europe
  • Carry out the quarter end / month end close processes in a timely and accurate manner for businesses and processes with a relatively high degree of complexity. Resolution of issues and queries may require reference to Group Reporting Manuals and / or working closely with the Business / Country teams and the BPO
  • Perform other (non-close related) group reporting activities mainly independently, these will include daily / weekly / monthly tasks
  • Be familiar with the control environment and the CETs relevant for their responsibility area, flag any control risks or gaps in a timely manner to the Lead Accountant and ODM
  • The Financial Accountant will work with the Senior Financial Accountant /ODM, Business / Country teams and BPO to understand the priorities and work to deliver against these as required.
  • The Financial Accountant will look for opportunities to improve their own processes to create efficiencies and control improvements within their own area of work.
  • Carrying out balance sheet reconciliation work for businesses / countries supported, review reconciliations performed by the BPO - query resolution will typically be handled independently based upon previous experience.
  • Support intercompany processes where relevant.
  • Support the Stats and Tax processes where required working with the Stats and Tax lead accountants to understand the priorities and deliver against these.
  • Work with the Business / Country teams and the BPO to ensure mutual understanding of all accounting entries and follow up on queries
  • Support and review the BPO teams in the areas assigned to the Financial Accountant.
  • Resolve queries and issues as they arise with reference to relevant resources such as the Group Reporting Manual, working with the Business / Country teams or other support from within the GBS.

Essential Education
  • Relevant degree in Finance/Accounting or similar

Essential experience and job requirements
  • 3 to 4 year experience in related Finance area
  • Good proven analytical and system thinking skills and financial knowledge
  • Fluency in English
