In this position, a Director can expect to be responsible for the following: 

•The Director Spent Fuel International Licensing & Design has primary responsibility for managing the licensing process with the US NRC, international regulators, and utilities. The licensing process includes support, interface and standardization of the license applications prepared by Westinghouse or by utilities that are seeking regulatory approval of spent fuel packages or storage facilities.
•The Director also has the responsibility to work with international partners to develop designs that will be licensable by the US NRC or other regulators. The director will provide oversight and direction to the partners in the development of new products to ensure that they meet US and other applicable licensing requirements.  This will include analysis and calculations, design, and regulatory documents.   
•The scope of this position includes developing strategies to address issues, supporting business development activities involving technical and licensing issues raised by regulators and potential customers, supporting bid development, and managing deliverables and deliverable schedules for the various stakeholders. Since spent fuel management activities are on the critical path for decommissioning plants, there is very high level of attention from all stakeholders to any activity or issue that has a potential positive or negative impact on the schedule and on efficiencies that might be achieved. Commitment to standardization is essential.
•This position also carries responsibility for various US-based licensing support functions in order to ensure ongoing integration with US activities. These functions include, but are not limited to, alignment with the DDR&WM ISFSI projects, OPB cask service business, maintaining spent fuel cask certifications across the globe, and providing regulatory interface and support for regulator inspections and audits.
•Develop internal, customer and regulatory contacts and establish strategies for licensing and implementation of new products and services to meet financial and strategic objectives.
•Activities will include development and execution of strategies to support licensing of new spent fuel project, requiring interaction with Westinghouse technical experts, regulatory agencies, management and customers.
•Direct all activities of licensing organization to ensure projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with established business unit policies and objectives.
•Oversee licensing performance, direct continual review of department operations; develop/introduce alternative approaches to effectively accomplish objectives.
•Apply design, engineering/licensing knowledge and experience to identify, direct, and integrate acceptable resolution of highly complex technical and regulatory issues addressing customer, regulatory and Westinghouse requirements. Issues often involve multi-disciplinary areas.
•Coordinate and lead efforts for complex licensing projects.
•Provide direction to department managers; promote and arrange for development of staff; ensure appropriate levels of guidance and direction are provided; manage and document employee performance and implement actions, as appropriate.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:

•15+ years experience required, in the area of spent fuel cask licensing and design.  Proven experience of dealing with the US NRC for spent fuel cask or canister essential.
•Bachelor's degree in technical area required. MBA or Master's degree is highly desired.
•Working, broad business acumen
