The Fixed Equipment Integrity Engineer will work with a team of engineers, inspectors, operators and maintenance personnel to improve the performance of fixed equipment assets.
A focus will be developing risk-based inspection strategies per API 580/581 to further increase fixed equipment reliability and minimize risk of process safety incidents in the organization.
At times, the individual will be an integral member of teams from across the Chevron Global Manufacturing system to share learnings and help standardize processes that deliver industry leading asset performance results.

Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Actively supports refinery's process safety goals of zero incidents and achieving top quartile reliability performance.
  • Utilize Risk Based Inspection methods as described in API 580/581. Demonstrate performance as an effective practitioner with ability to be a subject matter expert.
  • Actively help transition the organization from a time and condition based inspection program to a risk based program.
  • Develop Risk Based Inspection equipment strategies utilizing guidelines and principles from API 580/581.
  • Perform Fitness for Service method as described in API 579 and manage assessments within Chevron's Energy Technology Company (ETC) requirements.
  • Provide technical evaluations of inspection findings/recommendations, asset strategy adjustments, failure analysis, incident investigations and interpretation of data.
  • Develop and provide input into the facility's Fixed Equipment Integrity Improvement Program. Coordinate and ensure that deliverables are understood and progress is measured and reported.
  • Close refinery gaps to industry leading Mechanical Integrity performance.
  • Collaboratively work with multiple groups across the refinery (Refinery Business Managers (RBMs), Health Environment and Safety, Engineering, Operations and Maintenance) to develop, maintain and achieve the refinery's mechanical integrity vision.
  • Revise/author fixed equipment related processes and procedures.
  • Communicate with understanding verbally and in writing, as well as listens for understanding.
  • Develop and present complex processes across multiple grade levels to inform and gain agreement.
  • Collaborate with peers, ETC and other organizations (NACE, API, etc...) to leverage industry proven practices and support implementation of these within Manufacturing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing plant/facility or related industrial field
  • Demonstrated Technical Aptitude - Proven strong fundamentals in engineering consultation technical knowledge (e.g. interpretation of inspection data, mechanical design, equipment damage mechanisms)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in Engineering/Inspection positions within the petrochemical industry
• API 580 (Risk Based Inspection) Certification
