Operational and strategical activities:1. The SHEQ manager leads the EHS and Quality team.
2. The SHEQ manager is responisble to ensure that the Herentals, SEVESO High Tier, site meets all European, Belgian, Flemisch and GE - corporate regulation and requirements with regards to Safety, health and environment and quality eg:
- Seveso legislation
- Permits (environmentals, ...)
- GE framework 2.0 requirements
- ISO 14001
- GE Quality framework
- ISO 9001
3. Coordinate and execute site SHEQ projects
4. Be compliant with seveso requirements and documentations: SWA-VR, O-VR, inspections of officials.
5. Follow up all site expansion projects with a strong focus on PSM (process safety management)
6. Advice from a SHEQ and PSM (Process Safety Management) perspective in all new projects, processes and installations being developed and or installed for/on the Herentals site
7. Contact to local authorities related to SHEQ issues
8. Support manufacturing in all SHEQ Management fields, contact for EHS & Quality representatives
9. Engage in clear, two way, communication on SHEQ issues.
10. Drive the GE (Herentals) SHEQ culture through the Herentals organisation
11. Participate in making factory efficiency improvement measures
12. Coordination of annual SHEQ projects, such as certification audits, etc
13. Quarterly review of the development and organization of the SHEQ team
14. Coordination of daily SHEQ issues
15. Lead safety meetings, Risk Assessments, safety walks, safety inspections, conferences kick-off meetings
16. Coordinate on project goals with other managers, including Development, Configuration Management, Product Management, Project Management, and Editorial.
17. Write justification documents and prepare proposals, which may include requests for capital expenditure or additional employees.
18. Conduct training and mentoring with staff members.
19. Provide primary input to performance reviews, recommend candidates for promotions, manage performance improvement plans. Provide input for compensation evaluations and recommend adjustments for staff.
20. Stay abreast of new technologies, developments, and industry standards in the SHEQ Assurance field.
21. The SHEQ departement is also responsible for keeping track of all upcoming new legislation and advice site leadership on actions to remain compliant.
People management activities
1. Systematic goal setting, performance appraisal, feedback, development actions, coaching, training.
2. Recommend personnel actions if needed.
3. Handling disciplinary issues, HR involvement if needed.
4. Motivating subordinates. (Promotions, salary increases, awards)
5. Responsible for ensuring bench strength, subordinates' career planning.
6. Ensuring effective organization structure and work delegation.
7. Responsible for ensuring all relevant EHS and legal related regulations.
8. Assist staff with defining and building career development plans..


1. Masters Degree in Engineering (Preference Chemical process engineer) or equivalent experience/knowledge
2. Having a degree as safety advisor level 1 or 2, or equivalent experience/knowledge, is for sure a plus
3. At least strong experience in chemical process related field
4. Having a significant experience with regards to PSM (Process Safety Management)
5. Experience with Seveso regulations
6. Fluency in Dutch & English (written and oral)
7. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word programs
