The application engineering team provides technically competitive proposals in a timely manner, with focus on the European regional OEM and oOEM fleet.
In this role, you will develop technical solution and create the technical portion of commercial proposals for Conversions, Modifications and Uprates business mainly, such as stator and rotor rewinds, replacement fields, and other upgrades, in accordance with the DOW with the global Generator Product Line Engineering.

Essential Responsibilities

The generator application engineer will be responsible for interpreting customer needs and defining the parts scope of supply and input for cost and cycle. This position will report into the PS Europe Generator Engineering team. As needed the Gen Application Engineer will travel to site to support inspection activities in order to support Field Service team.

Performs technical proposals for Generator CM&U as assigned by Manager or Technical Leader
Attend R1 calls to determine customer technical needs
Determine the hardware scope of supply, coordinate performance calculations, provide input data for cycle and costing, and create the technical portion of the commercial proposal.
Support and coordinate external customer meetings and resolve customer technical questions and issues (including clarification and exception for the bid specification)
Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as Commercial Operations, Sales, Design Engineering, Service Managers, Service Shops, our factories, vendors, and other groups
Continuous improvement of proposal basics with feed-back from execution and cost reduction actions
Ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals, enhancing the growth targets for the local market.


Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
At least 5 additional years of experience in an engineering position
Know- how and experience in turbo- generator engineering or service mandatory
Commercial awareness to also consider non-technical boundary conditions
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
PC proficiency
Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment
Fluent in Turkish & English and proficiency in one or more European languages
Integrity: accepting and adhering to high ethical, moral, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others

Desired Characteristics

6 Sigma Green Belt certification
Technical knowledge of oOEM generator fleet
Experience in generator design and manufacturing
Strong background and understanding of power plant cycle technology
Working knowledge of generator maintenance & inspection methods and repair solutions
Advanced Engineering Degree
Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
Understands GE's products, capabilities and limitations in sufficient detail to be able to develop offerings that meet customer needs
Desire to go above and beyond basic day-to-day responsibilities
Ability and willingness to travel on short notice
