Our Transport Planning Business

Jacobs is heavily involved in helping to transform the world's transport system to deliver a less congested, high quality and reliable services for travellers, and businesses. During the past 20 years the company's transport planning team has developed an impressive array of skills and a considerable track record of achievement. Our extensive portfolio of projects involves working with various major clients in the transport industry, including local authorities, private sector and government, throughout the UK and Ireland. We also have an extensive track record overseas proving services in Mainland Europe, India, the Middle East, South America the United States of America and Asia

We currently have an opportunity in the Urban Mobility team in London for you to work with a team of transport planners, modellers and analysts. Urban Mobility has a strong presence in the emerging UK Urban Consultancy sector due to high profile projects, such as the Trip Information System, a mobile phone-based national trip database (client: Highway England).

As a Graduate Analyst you will be involved in delivering a wide range of Urban Analytics projects, for various high profile clients across the UK. In order for you to fulfil this role you must therefore have a practical knowledge and some experience in using mathematical, statistical, and database packages and recognised analytical techniques.

The role is to be based in the UK at our London Bridge office. Occasional travel within the UK and/or overseas may be required.
    • Strong academic background and track record in mathematics and statistics;
    • Knowledge and some practical experience in data analytics;
    • Experience of mathematical/statistical packages, such as Mathlab, SPSS, R;
    • Exposure to working with database software, such as MySQL, NoSQL, Hadoop;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
    • Good interpersonal skills enabling you to work both as part of a sophisticated multi-disciplinary team and to work independently to solve problems.
    • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline,
    • Programming skills in some of the following languages: Java, Python, C++;
    • Experience in using GIS software, such as ArcGIS, Mapinfo, QGIS;
    • Understanding of the principals of Project management.
