Street Lighting Electrician
Salary: £26,300
Location: Based in Sleaford, with travel

We operate one of the largest streetlight contracting businesses in the UK, with a large presence in the Midlands and the North West. As well as providing new installations for most of the UK's housing developers, we also work for the majority of the local authorities in our areas. We're not stopping there though: we're now implementing a major new initiative to expand the operation. As part of it, we're looking for experienced, hard-working Street Lighting electricians to join us. E.ON offer a full training package and support for their employees and there is the potential to train the successful candidates in Low Voltage Cable Jointing to enhance their skills.
Organised and efficient and with proven experience in a similar role, you'll be working in a team with another electrician or cable jointer carrying out maintenance, installation and connection of street lighting apparatus and other highway assets.
You'll need the technical expertise to carry out the tasks of a highways lighting electrician. Safety is our priority in all these activities, so as well as being first aid qualified, it's essential you have experience of assessing risks and working according to strict safety guidelines.
The role is to install and wire street lighting columns and highway electrical street furniture with the ability or desire to be trained to carry out limited connections to DNO/IDNO networks. The role will also include basic testing and inspection to BS767, fault finding on private networks, excavation and reinstatement in multiple surface types to current NRSWA standards as well as maintaining street lighting and highway electrical street furniture. You will be expected to carry out the safe use and operation of tools, equipment and vehicles associated with the role and work a safe manner and in accordance with the Company's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.

Essential skill requirements
•A basic electrical qualification C & G 236 Parts 1 & 2 / 2330 Level 2 & 3
•Relevant authorisation to carry out limited connections to DNO/IDNO networks or the willingness to be trained and assessed to carry out limited connections to DNO/IDNO networks
•A current NRSWA qualification (Units 1-9)
•An appropriate G39 qualification
•CSCS accreditation via the Highways Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS)
•A current driving licence
•A high degree of manual dexterity
•Understanding of the Highways Lighting business and distribution network
•Knowledge of the Company's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures
•The ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
• Clear understanding of the safety precautions for working near live LV cables and in the vicinity of DNO equipment.
• Manual handling certified.
