About the opportunity

  • Management of GIS team and operations
  • Champion and drive GIS business internally and externally and develop GIS business for the group
  • Provides technical advisory and input to work undertaken
  • Ensure GIS project execution and delivery, following Jacobs's Beyond Zero (HSSE); and Quality system and processes
  • Supervise GIS and support personnel: evaluates performance; assigns and schedules work; establishes project priorities and standards; makes recommendations on hiring and promotions
  • Responsible for all GIS project executed by the team
  • Coordinates technical and administrative GIS activities with various engineers, designers and planners from other disciplines and/or other departments in Jacobs participating on common projects
  • Assist the Department's Director of Operations in the preparation of the department/division budget and policy implementation.
  • Participates in the selection of GIS teams, and sub consultants, and in the negotiation of fees and subcontractors
  • Markets Jacobs's capabilities, within the GIS/3DLS specialty, to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing client
  • Prepares proposals for potential projects
  • Serves as a technical specialist, staff advisor and consultant to the GIS specialty, for varying types of projects, equipment, or program function
  • Develop and manage project delivery team and ensure the effective delivery of projects from inception to completion
  • Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved GIS techniques or procedures to create new or refined equipment, materials, processes or methods
  • Review, implements and maintains geographic databases for global client with various offices
  • Reviews and evaluates GIS data supplied by others- recommending any necessary changes
  • Selects and adapts standard GIS techniques, procedures and criteria to fit each project
  • Works closely with client to ensure GIS applications and data are accurate and complete
  • Active participation in the internal and/or project community virtual calls to share knowledge and bringing in best practice

About You
  • Post-Graduate Degree or Bachelor Degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Earth Science, Geography, or Computer Science.
  • At least 10 years of GIS experience with a minimum of 3 years in a leading role
  • Knowledge of GIS Mapping Software include ESRI ArcGIS
  • Global or Multi-office project or Multi-'lines of business' working experience
  • Fluent in English (writing and speech) and good presentation skills
  • Demonstrate understanding of 3D Laser Scanning surveying and processing
