Jacobs Federal Operations provides a wide range of services to government and industry in engineering, environmental, operations and maintenance, scientific, engineering, environmental and technical services. Our clients include USAF, USACE, DOE, USCG, NASA, Dow, TVA, and Denso. We are currently executing many contracts, performing work that is essential to our clients' missions across a broad range of functional areas.

Jacobs is presently reviewing candidates for a Senior Electrical Engineering position within our Federal Operations Group. The following responsibilities will align with this position.

  • Evaluates the desired goal of the system and develops, designs, or selects the required equipment and power controls to achieve the goal
  • Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial applications
  • Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects
  • Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements
  • Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer
  • Will use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in design and electrical systems is required
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering required
  • PE registration is required
  • Extensive knowledge of NFPA 70, and Medium and High Voltage Distribution design is required
  • Excellent writing skills is required
  • Capable of supervision for creation of electrical drawings, specifications and calculations required
  • Working knowledge of Electrical Analysis Software, such as ETAP is preferred
  • Industrial, nuclear and/or DOE electrical design experience is preferred
  • HV and LV distribution system design, construction and operations is preferred
  • Experience designing power substations is preferred
  • Detailed NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584 experience is preferred
  • Industrial design using IEEE 141, 241, 80, etc is preferred
  • Knowledge of Fire Alarm design in accordance with NFPA 72 is preferred
  • Knowledge of Lightning Protection design using NFPA 780 is preferred
  • Understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical deliverables preferred
  • Forecasting hours to complete required deliverables preferred
