My client is a globally leading OEM organisation and they are looking for a Head of Construction & Commissioning for the Sub-Saharan Africa Region.

You will be responsible for civil designing, Constructing and Commissioning of their Power Plants as an integrator within Steam, according to agreed budget, time and quality, and in a clean and safe working environment within the Region.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the execution of the Construction & Commissioning tasks in line with the operating guidelines for the Plant Business.
  • Over all of the Site Execution in order to ensure that it is being executed to the highest possible level of the professional standard.
  • Provide support to the execution Centre in the development of the Site execution strategy during execution phase; (Execution planning and scope of work, Site organization & staff, Site logistics & Set up, Budget consolidation, Project Guidelines, delegation Model).
  • Provide Support & Feedback to tendering for site management, civil, erection and commissioning issues (schedule, site organisation, site costs, PES, constructability etc.)
  • Provide Support & Feedback to Subcontracting for civil & erection issues (technical discussion with subcontractors, strategy, commercial negotiation)
  • During project acquisition provide support & Feedback to Sales department
  • Outline targets and improvements for the business and ensure that they are cascaded within the organisation
  • Manage the delegation and utilisation of resources for the Region and ensure that all employees are adequately deployed
  • Set Goals and Objectives for the entire Construction & Commissioning team(s)
  • Ensure that communication channels are broad and open in order to instil leadership and motivation of the team (s)
  • Ensure that both Direct reporting and Home Office and Site personnel are available and trained adequately
  • Ensure that the company EHS/Quality policy are always observed
  • Responsible for managing the Construction & Commissioning costs Unit, ensure budget of the office and projects are achieved
  • Maintain proactive links with other regions, functions within the region, other product lines and other businesses
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the management of the construction, commissioning & Civil works in the EPCM environment / Power Plants
  • Must have in-depth experience within the Power sector
  • Familiar with EHS programs & policies
  • Preference will be given to B2E candidates, or local SA citizens (due to visa reasons)
  • Masters OR Bachelors level Degree in Technical or Engineering
  • Knowledge of quality tool and processes (8D, 5S, Green Belt…).
