Role synopsis
The Activity Planning Functional Scheduler will be responsible for developing and maintaining high quality optimised Functional Schedule for a function and will be required to work with a team of schedulers integrating the Functional schedule into the Integrated Area Schedules. The primary work location for the role will be BP North Sea HQ in Dyce, Aberdeen.

Key accountabilities
1. Deliver optimized Functional Schedule that can be integrated across areas and impacted functions
  • Liaise with Functional SPAs to understand and optimise Level 1, 2 and 3 activities
  • Ensure that the Function Schedule is fully populated with all activities and is deliverable within functional and area constraints
  • Facilitate the Functional Scheduling meetings
  • Ensure sufficient buffers between activities and allowances for new work
  • Ensure that all functional activities have been checked against gate readiness criteria
  • Perform resource levelling for functional activities
  • Communicate the agreed Schedule within the function
2. Support the identification and resolution of delivery risks, resource conflicts, new activities, schedule changes and schedule waivers
  • Identify activities that bring risk to delivery of the Functional Schedule
  • Identify and drive resolution of functional resource conflicts
  • Manage the inclusion of approved new work into the Functional Schedule
  • Support Functional Gatekeepers in Activity Planning Processes
3. Apply Functional capabilities in support of the function
  • Ensure functional scheduling processes are consistent with relevant BP & Activity Planning Standards and Guides
  • Apply consistent use of Primavera across the function
4. Drive functional execution efficiency
  • Update progress on functional activities in Primavera on a weekly basis
  • Highlight slippage in the schedule and propose actions to recover
  • Review KPI performance with stakeholders
  • Support improvements in functional scheduling performance
  • First point of contact for Functional SPAs to address scheduling issues

5. Contractor integration
  • Liaise with contractor planning teams to ensure alignment of BP and Contractor Plans and Schedules

Essential Education
HND Level minimum

Essential experience and job requirements
  1. Understanding and experience with planning/scheduling of operations, maintenance or projects
  2. Excellent facilitation skills with ability to communicate effectively
  3. Operations experience in the Upstream Oil & Gas Sector
  4. Strong skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Desirable criteria & qualifications
  1. Experienced user of Primavera P6
  2. Practical offshore operations experience
  3. Project management experience
  4. Understanding and experience in schedule integration across multiple groups and multiple time horizons
  5. Accredited with engineering / project management professional body
