Schedules and carries out coastal engineering activities for the Ports & Marine Terminals Business Unit under the general direction of the Coastal Engineering Study Manager and Ports and Marine Terminals Practice Manager. In addition to technical responsibilities, local coordination with clients, assistance in proposals preparation and some involvement in business development within the Ports and Marine Terminals area are required.

Strategy & Planning · Work in alignment to location & regional vision and strategies to build WorleyParsons Advisian business;
· Work with Senior Consultants to learn how to identify new business prospects within own area and beyond own scope, through working collaboratively across the industry’s. Utilise referrals, relevant opportunity data bases, marketing events/conferences, internal and external networking, sources lead prior to Request For Tender process;
Execution of Advisian Projects · Project or Portfolio delivery & reporting under the guidance of Senior Consultants as required;
· Support Pursuits & Execution Strategy for Advisian Projects, e.g. Global Workshare (SME’s);
· Understand and apply Advisian Xpress and other relevant WorleyParsons tools and processes (EMS, WPMP, OneWay, etc.) as relevant;
· Leadership and mentoring of junior coastal engineers;
· Assists with the upkeep of storage and listing of all Coastal Engineering specific standards stored on the computer network
· Assists in coordinating Coastal Engineering design activities with other design and engineering groups;
· Represents the Coastal Engineering area in meetings with suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, clients, and other Company disciplines, and produces documentation required for conference or meeting notes.
Business Intelligence & Customer Relationships · Can demonstrate ‘selling and doing’ successfully;

· As required, support Senior Consultants in the design and implementation of business development campaigns;
· Assist to transition pull through growth opportunities from the Advisian group to Deliver and Improve teams. Proactively engage with Delivery and Improve at the right time to ensure the pull-through opportunities are secured;
· Monitor industry, global trends and knowledge of key market drivers to evaluate customers’ business needs now and into the future;
· Learning to build relationships with customers but interactions are under the guidance of a Senior Consultant;
· Provide input into the design and development of high quality business solutions to meet customer’s unique project requirements;
· Develop and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and enabling functions;
· Collaborate within WorleyParsons to share best practice and improve knowledge management;

· Participate in an environment that nurtures discussion and innovation to extract customer issues, get to the underlying challenges and participate in composite Advisian teams to meet customer requirements.
Commercial Acumen & Governance
    Ensure the delivery of accountabilities so projects meet performance requirements; Contribute to all projects being delivered in compliance with WorleyParsons business policies; Support reporting measures that appropriately demonstrate Advisian value across the location, including work for Deliver and Improve and pull-through value; Start to understand commercials across the location group to ensure consistent risk and commercial practices are applied in line with WorleyParsons procedures; Business travel as required

Branding and Marketing
· Promote the Advisian brand;
· Understand the location marketing plan;
· Actively share market intelligence within the local and global Advisian teams at the appropriate forums;
· Represent WorleyParsons and the Advisian business in the public domain though networking and participating in market forums, conferences and assisting others in external representation initiatives.
· Assist in preparing marketing material and building client relationships.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training

    Operations experience across all phases of project delivery either on site or within the client environment; Experience in the relevant specialised business areas and/or Advisian with broad range of experience across the Advisian practice. Can communicate the various services offered.
  • Feasibility and design criteria establishment for coastal engineering works.
  • Preparation of tender documentation for coastal engineering projects.
  • Client liaison experience. Project management of planning, feasibility, design and implementation projects, including development of project proposals and project budgets as required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in preparing proposals and delivering presentations. Strong project management skills. Extensive experience with: Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with MS Project and/or other scheduling products. Financial management of projects and resources, including budgeting.

Specialist Skill(s)
  • Technical execution and delivery of coastal engineering projects, including coastal structures and marine intake/outfall design as well as coastal modelling (waves, hydrodynamics, sediment transport, water quality) and metocean design conditions establishment as required.
  • Relevant experience in all facets of coastal engineering, including preparation of detailed design/tender documentation and the engineering, planning and costing of projects. Experience in design of shore protection, scour protection and/marine intakes/outfalls is essential. Experience in physical modelling of harbours and coastal protection structures is desirable. Experience in metocean field surveys planning, execution and data analysis is desirable. Experience with various coastal engineering related software tools such as CEDAS. Demonstrable knowledge of coastal engineering design standards. Experience with specialist modelling software (i.e. DHI MIKE, Delft-3D, SWAN, etc.) is desirable.
    8 Years experience in the relevant specialised business areas and/or Advisian with a variety of industry experience. Technically capable in their field of expertise; Consideration given as to whether individual will take a business or technical direction.

    A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with coastal engineering focus, and is registered or be eligible for registration with professional engineering association(s) such as ECSA.
  • An appropriate post-graduate qualification is desirable.
