The Vehicle Evaluations & Verification (VEV) Body Lab Test Engineer

  • Plan, design, conduct and write reports for Body development, and testing.
  • Design, review and update operational test procedures to ensure maximum facility and operational efficiencies.
  • Develop and implement new test procedures to verify new seat designs and technology.
  • Ensure that all facilities and test equipment are properly maintained to conduct high quality testing.
  • Verify quality of test data by applying statistical methods.
  • Work with Design and Release Engineers to develop test plans to maximize the utilization of prototype components and systems, test fixtures and facilities.
  • Ensure test procedures are correlated to real world customer usage.
  • Develop and implement maintenance and calibration procedures to ensure all test equipment is functioning properly.
  • Perform basic test automation functions such as test automation setup and execution.
  • Lead in the development of new equipment specifications to ensure that any new equipment meets all testing requirements.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to continuously improve custom machinery/process equipment for reliability & uptime to ensure continuous improvement in the facilities department.

  • Bachelors' of Science in Engineering from an accredited school
  • Strong MS Office suite and computer skills, including fundamentals around application of Excel-VB macro development
  • Excellent leadership, communications and interpersonal skills; Ability to function as part of a team and work cooperatively toward team goals
  • Qualified candidates will work well under pressure, demonstrate excellent problem solving and creativity, and be able to quickly evaluate new information and make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to develop & deliver business cases and presentations, project documentation to be delivered to upper management.


  • Bachelors of science in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited school.
  • 2 years plus experience in design or prototype verification seat testing including Environmental Chambers Control, Control Carts and Equipment, Electric, Air and Hydraulic Actuators .
  • Experience managing testing at labs including forecasting budgets, maintaining schedules, ensuring quality testing on schedule and PO funds.
  • Applied understanding of Measurement Uncertainty, Equipment Calibration, Data Acquisition, Control Systems Fundamentals, SPC, QOS, FMEA, G8D and 6-Sigma skill set or certification.

Monday through Friday Dayshift, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Shift assignment is subject to change, so candidate must be flexible with available work hours.

Attendance and punctuality are critical - 100%

Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week. Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen. health performance evaluation, and background check.

Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear. concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to self or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Dependable personal transportation to work site is required. Travel to and from customer's locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion
