Position Summary

Perform field inspection of Contractors activities installing trackwork elements to ensure Works are constructed safely and in accordance with Contract Documents, applicable codes and regulations, submitted Construction Work plans, Safe Work plans and other relevant documents

  • Expected to function in CM field staff in a variety of tasks as needed included evaluating construction progress, review of field engineer reports and assist in remedying open issues.
  • Major emphasis will be on monitoring and documenting the contractor's timely and accurate execution of work.
  • Record and report all work performance, including deviations from approved work plans, contract documents, poor quality of work, unforeseen conditions, unsafe conditions, etc.
  • Interface and coordinate with other construction managers, quality control manager and field engineers.
  • Coordinate with Lead/Senior Inspectors to maintain and track various logs, reports and field records.
  • Interface with Contractor's Superintendent for on-site resolution of construction issues.
  • Performs safety and environmental surveillance and liaises with program Safety Engineers.
  • Effectively monitor the Contractor coordination of activities of subcontractors and suppliers involved in the process of delivering effective trackwork requirements.
  • Shift work and weekend work may be required.

  • Must have a High School diploma.
  • Engineering Degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of inspection experience on rail trackwork is required.
  • Experience of working on or adjacent to rail operations.
  • Field engineering/inspection skills; solid background in construction/inspection of rail systems.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software products.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Physically capable of covering work site conditions.
