We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Principal QA Engineer in our Quality organization with the position being located in Rock Hill, SC.
In this position, a Principal QA Engineer can expect to be responsible for the following:
  • Perform variety of quality functions in support of business unit and department quality assurance plans/programs. Implement procedures to ensure compliance with quality requirements. Perform quality functions for projects, programs, systems and product lines of significant scope, associated with nuclear power plants and non-nuclear power projects.
  • Interface directly with the project team and at times the customer to integrate quality plans and procedures with customer requirements. Co-ordinate and lead complex QA projects by preparing quality descriptions, organizing the project, directing resources for quality functions.
  • Work as team member with cognizant personnel to identify and implement corrective actions.
  • Review documentation to verify compliance with technical and Quality requirements for manufacturing, construction and installation activities.
  • Perform inspections (NDE, welding, receipt inspections).
  • Support the QA Lead in coordination and integration of projects.
  • Development of systems requires significant research effort, as well as, creativity.  Develop sampling plans, using statistical process control methods, to determine trends adverse to quality and verify compliance with quality requirements.  Serve as primary liaison with suppliers, purchasing, design engineering, and manufacturing on quality issues, and resolve problems where conflicting organizational goals may exist.
  • Intradepartmental contacts which involve explanation of costs and quality requirements.  In addition, regular contacts with project managers and management to support quality requirements and drive performance improvements to ensure highest level performance.
  • Integrate multi-site, multi-functional teams to ensure quality objectives are met.
  • Provide technical/project management direction and assistance to internal/external customers, subcontractors, suppliers and licensees relative to quality related products and services and convince customer that quality problems have been resolved satisfactorily.
  • Negotiating skills are needed when recommending alternatives, or when clarifying BU positions on Quality Assurance to regulatory authorities and customers.  Influence internal customers on performance improvement recommendations

Job Requirements
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • High School Diploma
  • Post high school technical training and quality training related to the functions of a quality organization
  • 6-10 years with proven field experience and history of providing quality functions associated with the nuclear or similar type industry
  • Expert knowledge or awareness of inspection techniques and required qualifications to perform or support those activities.
  • Knowledge of national Codes and standards for quality, such as;  ISO, ANSI,ASME Section II, Section III, Section V and Section IX and NQA-1
  • Certifications in ANSI and ASNT NDE processes (previous or current - current is preferred)
  • Knowledge of welding and welding processes related to ASME Code, AWS and other requirements
