JETS provides products and technical services related to human operations in space through development and integration of a broad spectrum of engineering requirements. This includes human spacecraft flight and flight development products, human exploration mission planning for NASA, institution support services, and new technology development. Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a ISS Counter Measures Engineer with HX5, a JETS teammate company.

The ISS Counter Measures Engineer will provide engineering support for flight processing and delivery of NASA's ISS Counter Measures System (CMS) hardware.

The ISS Counter Measures Engineer will:
  • Work alongside project personnel during flight processing of hardware
  • Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS) and flight hardware launch/return assessments
  • Coordinate with Safety and Materials engineers to complete hardware flight assessments required for delivery and return
  • Be the point of contact between CMS hardware to the Cargo Mission Contract
  • Work in a team environment and report to a project lead/manager to provide status on progress and issues for support
  • Create flight delivery schedules for CMS hardware and support system manifest and engineering meetings
  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
  • Perform other duties as required
Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering school and five (5)years engineering experience, or MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related engineering experience or PhD. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) years of related experience.
  • 1 - 4 years of experience with NASA/JSC flight hardware and other flight hardware processes.
  • Self-motivated, team player and adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Planning and prioritizing skills required and must be highly detail oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and team building skills, technical background and a customer service focus
  • Must have working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular engineering field

  • Familiarity with all Counter Measures hardware
  • Some experience with crew interface/communication
  • Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis
  • Experience with procedure development
  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
  • Co-op or Intern experience a plus
  • Experience with Counter Measures Systems and in flight hardware processing for spaceflight is preferred

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).


Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
